With the age of 31 years and after playing 36 Test matches with the batting average 22, why and how Thirimanne is getting to many chances? When Sri Lanka need an opener Thirimanne is fit for that, when some middle order or one down batsman needed, Thirimanne is fit for that. Actually Thirimanne has the most secured place in the playing eleven or at least in 15 members.
There are lots of batsman who are doing well in domestic cricket like Pathum Nissanka, Lahiru Udara, Ramesh Mendis, Aviska Fernando, Roshen Silva etc. Lots of players, but Thirimanne is consistently getting chances. Like Oshada Fernando, he didn’t get chances earlier but Thirimanne.
Same thing we saw for Jehan Mubarak. But after some years Selectors understood that Tilekratne Dilshan was far better than Mubarak.
