  1. It’s the most unwise decision to include Malinga into the WC squad. There are many reasons why he should not be in the team as a player. Yes I agree that his experience is vast. So the best place for him is as a mentor. (Like India is sending Dhoni as the mentor). There will be more problems for SL if Malinga plays under Dasun. That will not allow Dasun to go ahead with the very innovative ideas he is going to implement during the WC. Beside I don’t think we should give any relaxation to Malinga on the fitness requirements. Can you think Malinga can provide even 50% of the energy and the dynamics as demonstrated by the youngsters at present. (specially in the out field in running and sliding). If Malinga in given a chance, SLC is doing a great injustice to the other senior players like Angelo (and probably Dimuth) who were not considered for the WC mainly due to fitness requirements.

    • Exactly, even though it is good for us to have malinga in the 15, he should no be selected as we should follow some strict policies with regards national selection in terms of players fitness, past performance and adherence to our local protocols, otherwise it will give bad examples for our future cricketers and detrimental to the our cricket in the long running. No one should be above the game. This game should be our nations pride, players should earn their places with hardwork, dedication and more than anyything they should feel pride in representing our country and behave in a way that should not bring disrespect to our country. Its okey to lose competitively.
      Malinga has told that he is willing to play in the world cup, We all can understand that its not about for the money but for the love of srilankan cricket, but still he has to follow the protocols as a player to be considerd for national selection.
