In the last match of the previous 5 match T20I series against Australia , SLC finally found a perfect opening pair in the current srilanka T20I team that is Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka.Both are the class players.Mendis’s all fifties are came when he played as a opener in T20Is.Then why SLC didn’t go with Kusal Mendis for opening spot.
SLC Always backed Gunathilaka for opening spot.He is a good player for ODI only not in T20I cricket.His hitting ability was poor against 130+ bowlers or 140+ bowlers.So SLC should sacked Gunathilaka in T20Is.
Gunathilaka is a player who is not needed for the T20 team . As a opener he has not hit a fifty for a long time.Kusal Mendis should open with Pathum. In last match of the 5 match T20I series against Australia he scored 69 and gave the team the win. All the fifties he scored in the T20 tournament were scored by him as a opener.Kusal Mendis should continue to open with Pathum.
