3 overs left and Sri Lanka needed 59 runs to win, my brother had already given up hope but I told him never to lose hope yet the game match was switched from the tv to the computer, where I alone watched and with 1 run to win from 1 ball, I switched the match back to the tv and told my brother once again never lose hope! 

Asela Gunaratne pulled off a miracle in 2017 and now, Dasun Shanka in 2022, what an innings! He observed some early pressure and eventually took the game to the Aussies and led Sri Lanka to yet another miracle win against Australia. He finished the evening by saluting the crowd and silencing the critics, who just like everyone else would have been part of the standing ovation he received.                                                                

This is a game to remember though the series was lost, it brought smiles to the faces, especially that of young Joshua, the way he celebrated the game showed what it meant not just to him but to the entire Sri Lanka. The support shown by the fans throughout the T20 series despite the country being in a crisis showed what cricket means to the island.

 

Sri Lankan cricket is doing/did a series called “reminiscing with” where it features a player talking about a memorable moment against Australia. Next, the Aussies come to the Island, this innings and Dasun Shanaka will definitely feature in it.
