It’s finally happened. Many past cricketers warned that it would happen if drastic action was not taken to improve and save our cricket. Year after year we heard this narrative. And today it’s clear as mud for all to see – Bangladesh has truly overtaken Sri Lanka in every cricketing sense. It was only a matter of time. The years of neglect, corruption, and mismanagement in SLC. The pathetic and bloated domestic cricket structure. The lack of will to change and evolve.
25 years ago Sri Lanka won a Cricket World Cup. In 2000 Bangladesh became a test playing nation – they kept learning, investing, evolving, and improving. Sri Lanka cricket unfortunately has gone completely and totally the other direction.
The misery will only continue without the right people in charge, and the will or desire for dramatic change. There is absolutely no point supporting this cricket team unless you are a glutton for punishment. This is literally an ongoing story of watching the village idiots getting mauled by professionals.
