I felt the same. Indian bowlers are still top quality bowlers. Had one player gone to score at least 70+ we could have cross 300. Need to be patient. The only downside is nothing to show in the results column otherwise I am happy with the progress.
It seems 3 ODIs as well. Hope admins will change the title.
Remove this as this is no longer working.
Must be a glitch.
Ha ha.. Don’t be surprise if SLC reinstate Hathurusinghe to Head coach position in coming weeks. Dram for nothing. All the high profile coaches are gone now.
Mahela – Southhampton (Not that he was interested in)
Demingo – Bangladesh
Tom Moody – Oval franchise (Hundred)
Dean Jones – Pakistan ??
Who are they fooling?
Moody no longer associated with Sunrisers Hyderabad. So he has no contractual obligations anymore. So he should be free. India may still go with Sastri so that would force Moody to find something other than India coaching post. Also looks like Domingo going with Bangladesh as I red him meeting with their officials in Bangladesh yesterday.
Honestly, I don’t think anyone expected us to come this far. And surely they don’t deserve to be in the semis. 50% blame should go to the selectors and then the coach and players. Never saw any fluency and fight from the middle. Hopefully new set of knowledgable selectors and coaching staff should take over the SL. Talent is abundant. Yet to see any special spinner coming through though except Ambuldeniya. He should be our main weapon going forward like Hearth/Vittori. Kumara, Chameera, V.Fernando, Pradeep and youngsters like Kalana, Dilshan Madushanka could be groomed. SL still can make it to semis if Pakistan and Bangladesh lose one match from here and England lose both. But unlikely and not deserving.
He looks like someone who favours pace and bounce. Wasn’t convincing first when he played that domestic tournament. This is exactly why players should pick based on the conditions. Thirimanna, Jeewan, Siriwardhena all are good at local conditions but fails whenever they face pace and bounce. On the other hand Dickwella, Danushka prefer pace. This is where our selectors failed to pick correct players for correct conditions.. Avishka’s innings and bench players like Oshada shows us we are in safe hands for the coming years as well.
Two openers can’t do it along. Selfish players like Thirimanna will not be going to help the cause either. Here is a suggestion for the team manager. Here onwards it’s a do or die situation. So Mathews should bowl from the next match and bring back another bowler and balance the team properly. If he injured they replace with Oshada a much more confident player than our entire middle order. Had they selected players based on the form (not the domestic idiotic provincial tournament form) we could have been on the top.
One or two interruptions may happen but I don’t think it would be bad as previous games. BBC, MetOffice forecasts aren’t that bad and no heavy rain before the match means outfield won’t affect much. Fingers crossed for a match and a win.
