I agree with u Great Bat!..
I agree with u Great Bat!.. And u too Aster.. We need to find a way to build up a team! As Aster said in a perfect world, we can expect changes but in reality, I do not see more than 1 or 2 debutants playing d first test. Dilruwan is seriously a nothing player. I just remember he had a dashing debut season where he did take a few wickets and scored a few runs, a 95 I guess.. Was glad that we found someone in d caliber of Thilan Samaraweera. Ever since all that hype, he is just a very ordinary bowler. I think Kusal Mendis wud be a better option wit d ball than Dilruwan!
I would like to see 4
I would like to see 4 debutants. I guess it’s crucial we think out of the box and have no fear of losing, but to build a strong team moving forward .
At the top of the order, Kaushal Silva, though a solid player seems a little inconsistent, also bats with a very low strike rate which in turn puts a lot of pressure on Dimuth should he lose his wicket. Plus he is also a wicket keeper and does not bowl. I guess Dananjaya De Silva, who also is an attacking opening batsman would be a good option to try, given his consistency with the bat and his off-spin would be an added advantage.
Roshen Silva must be an automatic selection given his stupendous record on his List A career with an average of over 50. He must take the crucial No.5 or 6 spot
Vishwa Fernando should definitely partner Nuwan Pradeep with the new ball and Lakshan Sadakan must come in place of Dilruwan Perera to partner Herath.
This would give Sri Lanka, though inexperienced, lot of cream and a diversified team, especially the bowling attack.
This way we will have 2 specialist openers, 5 genuine middle order batsman, with 2 wicket keepers in them. 2 left arm spinners, one orthodox and the other a chinaman, 2 pacers, one left arm and a right armer. Plus 2 part time off spinners in De Silva and Mendis.
I also feel Roshen Silva should bat in between Chandimal and Mathews to give him that extra cushioning, and because Mathews is one of the best finishers in World Cricket and also keeping in mind his record of batting with the lower order and the tail.
MyXI
Dimuth Karunaratne
Dananjayan De Silva
Kusal Mendis
Dinesh Chandimal
Roshen Silva
Angelo Mathews
Kusal Perera (Wk)
Rangana Herath
Lakshan Sadakan
Vishwa Fernando
Nuwan Pradeep

Haha Thanks LateCut! I wonder if it will work!
Thank you for the kind
Thank you for the kind comments guys… and between, Cricket Fan, I honestly believe Thirimanne has great potential, and the 2 hundreds he scored in the Asia Cup in 2014 is pure evidence of that. so far in his ODIcareer, hes played 107 matches with an average of almost 35 with 4 100s and 16 50s! I guess, even the great man Sanga did not have that average at a similar time in his career. However in tests, i believe he is lacking behind as he suffers with the moving ball outside off-stump! I just think, thirimanne, as of now is just going through a tough phase, just like chandimal, mahela n many other cricketers did… So the best way forward for him is to go back to the A team, score some runs n get his confidence back, n then try to find a plc in d team thru merit… thats d way forward i believe… my personal opinion, but i respect urs! 😉
Thank u sujeewa thilakarathna
Thank u sujeewa thilakarathna and Mahela fan. Glad u guyz like and endorse my views. As fans, lets really hope these solutions are implemented. Luckily we have another 3 years to go fr d next World Cup and the revamping process must begin now.. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Thank u for sharing my article WZRD!… Hope u like it….
Thank you for your kind
Thank you for your kind appreciation…. yes absolutely our fielding needs improvement, and you are spot on when you mention abt the aus, sa and nz sides compared to us… fitness levels of players is a little concerning, especially malinga… given our world class reputation, hope we will be able to rectify this going ahead in the tournament. . And thisara perera- I am more concerned with his bowling than batting.. if he only can bowl a minimum of 7 to 8 overs at a run rate of about 4.00 to 4.50 and picking up a couple of wickets, he would have done his job, and provide the ideal balance in the team.. I see vast improvements in his batting, but he needs to be consistent and rotate the strike more, instead of going bang-bang every ball… he can sure take a cue frm King Sanga! hope we will be able to sort out all these concerns going forwad.. lets hope fr d best! 🙂
