Beautifully written with a failrytale ending. Could you possibly write one for the Australia vs Sri Lanka 2007 World Cup final. Recently, Mahela himself regarded it as one of Sri Lanka’s most dominant world cups except for the final. It also would be nice to envision Sri Lanka breaking Australia’s world cup winning streak and giving Sanath Jayasuriya and Chaminda Vaas a fitting farewell!!!.
Looks good with the orange stripe across the shoulder. However, the jersey could benefit with more yellow perhaps with the Lion to make it more visible as it’s hard to see. Also, why does the jersey have green near the armpit it would be better if it was just blue.
I honestly think that we shouldn’t be making too many wholesale changes to the squad so close to the world cup. Alternatively, we just need consistency in squad selection and just back the players to perform without facing the constant threat of being axed.
So, the ODI squad against South Africa (and potentially the world cup) should be;
1. Danishka Gunathilaka
2. Niroshan Dickwella (₩)
3. Kusal Perera
4. Kusal Mendis
5. Angelo Mathews
6. Dasun Shanaka
7. Thisara Perera
8. Akila Dananjaya
9. Suranga Lakmal
10. Lakshan Sandakan
11. Lasith Malinga (C)
12. Dinesh Chandimal
13. Dushmantha Chameera
14. Dananjaya De Silva
15. Vishwa Fernando
Great pro-active captaincy
Great pro-active captaincy from Tharanga in the first innings, especially during the powerplay where he coordinated his bowlers with great control keeping Australia’s run rate at bay whilst not allowing the Australian batsmen to settle to a particular bowler. It was also a brave move from Tharanga to provide Malinga with one over upfront in the presence of a good opening partnership.
