SA will bring in spinners early if DDS opens, as he struggled against SA spinners last month. I would also like to open with DDS if he’s in good touch with bat.
@Byse ster: Please don’t try to mislead public by willfully writing false facts. A team scoring 120 – 160 runs or a good bowler taking 2,3,4 or 5 wickets is so common in T20 cricket.
Obviously a very big blow. Pradeep’s two overs vs Oman were very threatening. Yes, Lahiru Kumara or Binura Fernando should replace him.
Although Dhamasena made a few wrong decisions in recent series, they didn’t always favour Sri Lanka. He may have been retained in the elite panel considering his past reputation.
True 🙂 We could have lost unless Oman dropped those dollies. I will change the heading.
I totally agree with you. News articles and especially videos can be awarded points based on the quality of their content. Posting videos with poor content should be discouraged by awarding fewer points or top posts can be awarded extra points. The quality of posts should also be taken into account when contributors are promoted to higher ranks.
Dhananjaya de Silva isn’t a T20 batsman. If he can bowl at least 2- 3 economical overs per a match he can be considered as a bowling all-rounder as we are lack of much international experience in the current squad. Anyway, credibility of the above news is doubtful.
Just a news. Nothing against Wanindu. He is one of my favourite cricketers.
@chathura_dharmasiri : Thanks for the correction. Yes Kanhai is a West Indian cricketer of Indian origin.
It’s hilarious how this guy in the video is trying to justify selection blunders. When I saw on TV how Jeevan Mendis and Vandersay were bowling, I realized that how easily good batsmen can hammer them, as they mostly bowl half-track or full deliveries. I’m surprised that selectors weren’t able to see that. Even I heard that international commentators were saying that Vandersay must be very nervous to bowl like that. Their deliveries may have troubled some batters during the super provincial tournament whose skill level is below international standards. That doesn’t make them superior leg spinners in international level.
Selectors try to highlight less important things to justify their selections while overlooking more important factors. For instance, prior to the world cup both Milinda Siriwardana or Lahiru Thirimanne mostly failed when they got opportunities in ODIs. They also failed to impress selectors by showing good performances in list A matches. It’s so funny that the selectors say that Thirimanne’s success in the World Cup 2015 (despite his failures from 2016 to 2019) is also a reason to consider him for the World Cup in 2019. According to the selectors’ logic other batsmen who scored heavily in 2017, 2018 but failed in 2019 should deserve more opportunities. Now De Mel says that we can’t expect runs from Dhananjaya de Silva and Jeevan Mendis as they were selected for their bowling. If they are just bowlers why do they bat at No 6 & 7? The responsibility of the selectors must be identifying the potentials of the players instead of making cheap comments to justify their selection blunders.
