It’s the most unwise decision to include Malinga into the WC squad. There are many reasons why he should not be in the team as a player. Yes I agree that his experience is vast. So the best place for him is as a mentor. (Like India is sending Dhoni as the mentor). There will be more problems for SL if Malinga plays under Dasun. That will not allow Dasun to go ahead with the very innovative ideas he is going to implement during the WC. Beside I don’t think we should give any relaxation to Malinga on the fitness requirements. Can you think Malinga can provide even 50% of the energy and the dynamics as demonstrated by the youngsters at present. (specially in the out field in running and sliding). If Malinga in given a chance, SLC is doing a great injustice to the other senior players like Angelo (and probably Dimuth) who were not considered for the WC mainly due to fitness requirements.
Looks good. I kept Dds incase if needed a stability.because all batsman in top four are attacking t20 batsman.
but charith, wanindu can also do it.
I dont think there will be wholesale changes of bringing 4 players in to the team. In my opinion maximum of two changes may be possible. Chandimal in place of Minode (if KJP is not playing). Other change will be either Akila or Praveen will be replaced by Theekshana or Pulina. Most likely Akila will be replaced. Kamindu Mendis is a good prospect for T20 format and due to his lack of experience I dont think selectors will give him the most important position like no3 in ODI format at this stage. I guess that Bhanuka will get his last chance on ODI format tomorrow and hope he will come good
Yes, we can give another few chances to Bhanuka (to gain experience) since we are looking for the 2023 world cup. However, I believe he should bat down the order to find his form and move Asalanka up in order. We need good inform batsmen at no. 3 and who can play according to any situation. Otherwise, fall of quick 2, 3 wickets creates unnecessary pressure on middle and lower-order batters.
My playing IX for 3rd ODI:
1. Avishka Fernando
2. Dinesh Chandimal (in for Minod)
3. Charith Asalanka
4. Dananjaya De Silva
5. Bhanuka Rajapaksha
6. Dasun Shanaka
7. Wanidu Hasaranga
8. Chamika Karunarathna
9. Pulina Tharanga (in for Akila)
10. Praveen Jayawickrama
11. Dushmantha Chameera
100% true !!!
