20 years…. we lived with a war. we all lost friends, aquaintances and many more. We watched helplessly as this country was being torn apart. And yet through all of this there was a SILVER LINING .And that was cricket. No, not just cricket but cricketers . Amongst the many a few names will always stand out. As much as sanath was lucky that he started opening the batting together with kalu.. we too were fortunate that we got to see them perform when trying times were everpresent all around us.To see sanath in particular take apart so many bowlers was something i will always cherish for the rest of my life.. .too many to mention here but suffice to say that each time a bowler from this era is mentioned.. the mind will always rekindle those sweet sweet memories of sanath taking them apart..remember this shot remember that shot was always the end of the match conversation..And what was wonderful was that he BELONGED to everybody not just to a privileged few.we spoke of him as if he was one of us..so close was he to us and i guess will always be. I fervently pray that he rediscovers his touch so that there will be ONE LAST HURRAH with the upcoming world cup…and if he doesnt??? sanath u have given us enough memories to last us a lifetime and thanks for that.
