Thank you very much for your comment. My point is Mahela isn’t a great ODI player. He averages just 32 runs per innings with a strike rate of 77. To be a great ODI batsman you should average nearly 40. If you average 30s your strike rate should be above 90s. There is no doubt that Mahela is a great Test batsman. But he have to take a decision after this world cup about ODIs. Because youngsters like Chandimal are waiting for a chance.

Finally this is what Mahela have said about his future –

“I am not going to be very selfish. It’s going to be what the team requires and how we need to progress. Definitely after the World Cup I need to sit with the selectors and discuss those options of what plans they have, where we need to go and depending on that I’ll make my decision.”
