great performance (except for fielding!)
Cool! I’d love to see that
Cool! I’d love to see that same style of footage/photo for a good catch on the ropes!
I agree in general, but not
I agree in general, but not on Silva. I agree that the result doesn’t matter much, that falling short by 11 when chasing under lights at Premadasa is not bad going, and Malinga would have reduced their total anyway.
But Silva was not doing a patient, dependable job. He was bogged down. He was not ‘holding things together’. He was stuck and unable to work the ball. In most matches that kind of extended drought will ruin chances of a good total, you cannot often afford to take 50 balls to get youself set.
i wish there was more world
i wish there was more world cup fever here (england). noone knows it’s happening, although all the matches are on tv here. they only care about the ashes.
good news Gajan, Chabi 😀

^^i mean he is an allrounder in T20/ODI but a batsman in tests. young guy and by the time sanga retires he could be the perfect candidate

when he first emerged in the national side, i thought he was an enthusiastic slogger who was more likely to keep his place through bowling well. but he is now a mature batsman, who alters his game on the basis of the situation when he comes in.
his bowling, while useful in limited overs is not going to take wickets in tests, where batsmen are under less pressure to hit you.

signed. i didn’t realise it was banners too! what are they thinking?
i think we will struggle to
i think we will struggle to be a force in test cricket without decent opening bowlers.
we have a quality batting unit and spin options, but malinga is the only world class pace man we have since vaas. and even in recent tests, he can’t bowl as many overs as we’d like.
he is a level up from kula, welegedera, dilhara etc. mathews is a useful bowler in ODI/T20 but it hardly likely to get out a proper batsman in test match situation. without mali, i am left wondering how we can take 20 wickets unless the conditions are perfect for spin
i hope it is a true
i hope it is a true celebration of cricket and there is no controversy that becomes a bigger story than the drama of the sport.
i think there could be some classic matches in this WC, and i hope we are on the wining side of some real humdingers hehe!
