I agree with this article..Upul is Sri lanka’s unsung hero for da last 2 years..he was overshadowed by the performances of Dilshan,Sanga,Mahela,Mathews,Malinga,Murali as all of them were world class bt we all knew he was a consistant performer..also he was da guy who replaced Marvan from world cup 2007 & kept politics jayasuriya out of 2011 world cup as well..I think Upul should get his chance when he is back as he has done enough 2 retain his place in one day cricket..

@ shankster–I am a Peterite who played against both Angie & Thisara..i knew both of them gonna play 4 sri lanka as both r gifted cricketers with immense potential..i hope angie will captain Sri Lanka & Thisara wud be able to have a long career with his all round skills..!!! Also i hope both dimuth & roshen will represent sri lanka in near future…I agree with u in dt comment about schools as i know if thisara ddnt play 4 joseph, it wud hv taken him more time to represent sri lanka..Joseph made thisara where he is now & we all sri lankans should give a big thank u for St. Joseph college…

i don’t want 2 talk about question of jayasuriya’s inclusion as it is pure political interference…
B–It is a tough call to make as all 3 have proven their quality..may be dimuth got da knod ahead of others as he is an aggressive but a really solid opener..(also as i played against him in the battle of saints i know he is a quality package..)
C–I agree with u,In my opinion i have doubts about inclusion of kandambi as vice captain..a player last played a one day match on asia cup final (24/06/2010)to include as a player would be all right bt to include as vice captain shows dt selection committee dont hv BALLS OR BRAINS (They are just taking higher ranked peoples order’s)also i would have probably gone to Thilan as he was finding his form in da test leg & it would have given us more experienced player to the conditions..
D–Again it is a tough call to make..Bt as in the limited overs format u may go with more versatile options..if we go with prasanna it is a waste of a all round option as we all know Mathews not gonna bowl in this series..so im not telling it is 100% correct to omit prasanna bt in the team’s point of view it might be a good thing to do..
E–I agree with u in selection.we should have given Rangana Herath a go as he has done well in the given chances..
F–This is a very important question…i dont know whether u followed any school cricket from 2005-2008..bt as a Peterite cricketer who suffered at the hands of Thisara’s all rounding capabitilites,i know he’s a lad with immense potential..we all knew he’s gonna represent Sri Lanka & will be a player to watch out..I know he was helpless against quality short pitched stuff bt he had proved some points in his career up to now
He has taken 2 five wicket hauls in short career of 20 matches..he took those against world’s best batting line up (India) & against aussies in their own backyard..a feat dt a Sri lankan bowler never achieved other than him..
Also he was da highest sri lankan wicket taker in year 2010 when we had murali,malinga & kulasekera in da side..
As a batsmen he had done well in da debut match,again in bangaladesh where he & thilan guided us to a famous victory when we had to sore 55 runs in 6 overs against india..Also he showed his hard hitting capabilities in the world cup final when he scored 22 runs in 9 balls..I dnt know how ur telling about his fielding as we all know he is 1 of da safest pair of hands in da team..may be u r mentioning about 1 or 2 fielding mistakes but please mark my words he is not a bad fielder at all…
G–Ya i think we should have given a chance to chanaka as he would have given some variety to our bowling attack..
I hope u will post ur reply to this as well & wish Sri lanka all da very best for da limited overs leg of this tour..
