Great points. School cricket is one area where we lose a lot of talent. We have school teachers and old boys of schools deciding on who gets selected and the whole process is corrupt. Favourites make it and rest don’t. Then international school students have no chance too. SLC should take over the school level and have Under 19 coaches monitoring youngsters at school level. First class teams shouldn’t rely on schools. They should do their own youth recruitment and search for talent. Very few Tamils and Muslims are making it up the ladder. That can mean one thing and we need to to honestly address that. We should make provincial cricket the only first class tournament as well.

Bhanuka said he lost more than 40 million last year because SLC didn’t give NOC for him to play on T20 leagues. Better for them not to sign contracts at this rate.
