Madushanka might have an injury, although I would like to give an opportunity to Lahiru as well.
Avishka’s 3 ODI centuries have come batting in 1st and 3rd positions (Mahela might analyze his T20I data since in ODI he has plenty of time to settle down), even though I would personally like him to come after 1 down since Mendis & Pathum has nicely maintained our opening batter duties for the past year. My personal opinion is that Rajitha is a good all-format bowler now, he needs to maintain his nerve in these batting paradise pitches (Kolkata will be the same for sure, India planned to get their all batters in form ahead of WC to settle their batting lineup)
Apart from Pathum, Do we have noticed any other batsmen that go through the first 6 overs and score better than the runner ball consistently?
For the T20 world cup this year, we need a Good opening batter like Pathum who can able to do above with the moving ball.
I am only agreeing to the 2nd point – Leaking runs in the field and drops chances cost us the game up to 70%.
Other lack point I saw was by the captain, field setting and bowling changes – Our bowlers were attacking in the first 3-4 overs by swinging the ball where we should have placed at least two slips, we saw 2 to 3 edges goes in slip area. Also, Lahiru Kumara full overs should have been completed within the first 10 overs as we know he is not bowling well in the latter part of the innings.
Our Openers did well where we got through the ball swinging period and gathered more than 30 runs. Another day it could have been easily 20/3 in the powerplay.
Also, I believe the leg spinner will be not effection in the second half due to dew he will not able to control the ball better than finger spinners. Our selected bowling lineup was good but we gave more extras through wides, no balls
I would also prefer Praveen.
For Akila, he simply needs to fix his basics. He needs to vary his pace and be able to bowl at good length (Which he need more practice), Should take examples from Hafeez when bowling in t20s

We should not experiment too much, should give more opportunities to Worldcup selected IX to get into form.
Our Top 3 batters should be vast experience in playing swing/seam balls
Dananjaya should play the anchor role and keep on batting till 12-15 overs
Kept Bhanuka Rajapaksha, a quick 10 balls 30 runs will be vital during a crucial match, but he should prepare himself to bat longer ininngs
On the Bowling front, we need to keep balance with 2 pacers and 2 spinners depending on the pitch condition this can be changed.
Yes, we can give another few chances to Bhanuka (to gain experience) since we are looking for the 2023 world cup. However, I believe he should bat down the order to find his form and move Asalanka up in order. We need good inform batsmen at no. 3 and who can play according to any situation. Otherwise, fall of quick 2, 3 wickets creates unnecessary pressure on middle and lower-order batters.
My playing IX for 3rd ODI:
1. Avishka Fernando
2. Dinesh Chandimal (in for Minod)
3. Charith Asalanka
4. Dananjaya De Silva

7. Wanidu Hasaranga
8. Chamika Karunarathna
9. Pulina Tharanga (in for Akila)
10. Praveen Jayawickrama

We need to align batters per modern-day cricket and bowlers per the condition.
